Did I mention this is a damn fun game? It’s free to play but (of course) you can toss some cash their way to speed things up a bit. The way it works is, you start with 3 classes. A light, a medium and a heavy. Each has a full set of gear. You earn XP with every game you play and you can spend that XP on new weapons, gear and perks. You can buy ‘Tribes Gold’ and spend THAT instead of XP as a way to speed up the process. I’ve enjoyed the game enough I threw them $30, which I think was money well spent. I got a good chunk of Tribes Gold which I spent upgrading the hell out of the Technician class I enjoy so much, plus a couple of perks. Because I spent some cash with the game I’m now a ‘VIP’ member. VIPs get XP at roughly 50% faster than normal. The $30 purchase also got me a 30 day ‘Booster’, so I’m actually getting XP at around triple the usual rate for the next month. I enjoy that boost too, LOTS of stuff I intend to get the old fashioned way. Killing foos!
