Just not sure the world is ready for this (or ever will be).
Apparently Major League Gaming and CBS are thinking about putting something together. Nobody is saying much, but I think MLG’s biggest draw is StarCraft, with much smaller audiences for various FPS’es and games like League of Legends. Not sure how successful a show they could put on to get, or keep, CBS interested. Still I’ve heard of some pretty stupid ideas for reality TV and a game show/sports event/video game hybrid may work. Not gonna hold my breath though.
In personal gaming news, I must say I kinda hate Civ 5′s choice to just let the AI cheat instead of making it smarter. I really am not a very good Civ player. I usually just wanna play to see the civilization I’m playing, grow and not think too hard. This is one of the very few games I play, where I not only START playing on the easiest game mode, but I USUALLY play pretty low on the difficulty scale. I play this way because I’m NOT interested in squeezing the very last morsel of growth/production/units from the game EVERY damn turn. But it’s also because the Civ games have always had pretty stupid AI and they make the game ‘harder’ by letting the computer cheat. Even if you have the very best strategy for your starting location, you simply will NOT out science, out produce, or out grow the AI. The game will have the computer DOZENS of years worth of science ahead of you pretty damn quickly. My last game I was playing on the third setting and by the time I had civil war era troops one of the AI’s was hitting me with artillery, tanks and submarines. AND what really made the game frustrating was that it put me between two warmongering states. Russia on one side of me, Egypt on the other. JUST as I would start really pushing one of the AI’s back and taking their cities the other would declare war on me out of the blue and I’d have to pull back to fight the new batch of units. Just.not.fun.
Still, I enjoy Civ 5 on the easier levels enough that it’s seriously cutting into my Tribes Ascend time. I bet I haven’t put more than 3 hours into Tribes in the last week and a half.
Finally, it’s about time for me to build a new gaming rig. Seems every time I build one it gets cheaper than the last(me likey!). I’m hoping that stays true. Last time around I bought a Dell, but I think I’ll build again this time. I was just never satisfied with the Dell. The components were good enough but the box itself was cheap and over bearing. Not to mention WAY WAY TOO BIG!
So I leave you with a question dear reader. I build my computers to get the best ‘bang for the buck’ gaming box. What was the cost of your last gaming box and did you build it?
