Description:
Kinjirou Sakamachi has gynophobia due to his mother and sister constantly using him as a punching bag. His mother is a ‘super strong professional wrestler’ and his sister wants to follow in her footsteps. Because of his fear of women Kinjirou is considered a very odd duck at school, and the other odd ducks at his school are Kanade Suzutsuki, the headmaster’s daughter, and her ‘goes to school with her, “butler”‘ Subaru Konoe. Kinjirou is doing his best to just get through his school life while avoiding all contract with the girls around him. But, as these shows always do, he’s not going to get a quite life. Turns out one day when his stomach is really bothering him, he walks into Subaru using the stall and it turns out Subaru has a REALLY big secret. “He’s” actually a cross-dressing girl. “Hilarity ensues” when Subaru and Kanade decide to cure Kinjirou of his condition in payment for his silence on the matter. Expect all the typical harem hi-jinx to commence…because they do.

Dislikes:
Story is about as contrived as you’d imagine. Subaru is cute but it never goes into WHY she insists on being a ‘butler’. I mean, I get that her family has been in such positions for a long time, but a woman can be fill that role right? Just call it something other than ‘butler’?

Likes:
Subaru is cute, and I’d bet the light novel or manga this show is based on has some fun parts later in the story but you aren’t going to see it here folks. Why is Kanade starting to fall for Kinjirou too? I’d almost like to see the story focus on THAT pairing instead of Subaru but that’s not the OTP(On True Pairing) the story hints at.

Recommendation:
Skip unless you want a harem time waster.

Extras:
Do the girls in these types of show even KNOW any other males besides the lead? I mean, why would EVERY SINGLE GIRL want to get closer to this guy that refuses to even TOUCH them?

Description:
Around half a dozen ‘Dragons’ have invaded the earth with unimaginable magical powers and are destroying whatever they come across. Why are they here? What do they want?
Apparently they are just wanting sexytime with some teenage human girls. Not kidding, that’s the setup. These special girls (called “D’s) inherited some of the dragons powers and use them to fight them off or destroy them, but when the ‘color’ of the dragon matches the symbol on the girl’s body, she can get transformed into a similar dragon and that’s when the sexytime can get started. Enter Yuu Mononobe, the only male with the dragon symbol. He transfer’s to the all girls school to help the elite of the school fight off the rampaging dragons.

Dislikes:
VERY mediocre. Very tropey. If you’ve seen this type show before, you’ll not find anything new here. The characters look their actual age for the most part in this show, but that just makes the ‘reality’ of it worse. The story was left ‘open’ for a second season, but I don’t think it’s deserving of one. Maybe the manga the show is based off of is better?

Likes:
Yuu must trade his memories for power to get stronger, and he’s already forgotten some of his very youngest years with his sister. This leads him to have a very REAL sense of loss to protect others. That’s about it.

Recommendation:
Skip. If you are in the mood for a typical harem/shonen show this can fill that hole but there are probably better shows to watch.

Description:
After dying in a pathetic and embarrassing manner, shut-in NEET, Kazuma Satou finds himself in front of a beautiful goddess named Aqua. She tells him he can be teleported to a fantasy world with all his memories intact and ONE magical item, and if he can somehow defeat the ‘Demon King’ that’s raging there, he can even come back and be reincarnated to a life of luxury in Japan. After tons of jokes at his expense, and general obnoxiousness towards him, Kazuma decides in a fit of pique to take Aqua with him instead of an item. The heavens agree; but boy howdy Aqua does not! It doesn’t take Kazuma long to realize what a mistake he’s made though, because Aqua is almost totally useless in this new fantasy setting. When she isn’t getting further into debt while not adventuring, she’s making things actively WORSE for the party WHILE adventuring. Realizing that he’s totally unprepared for hardships of adventuring life Kazuma tries recruiting some party members. Enter Arch-Mage Megumin and Crusader Darkness (aka Lalatina Ford Dustiness). These two ‘advanced class’ adventurers end up having weird quirks that quickly show why no other parties will take them. Megumin ONLY uses explosive magic, which she can only use once per day and is so wiped out afterwards she can’t even stand, and Darkness is a total masochist that can’t hit ANYTHING with her sword, but loves being a wall (ie: getting hit!) for her party. Hilarity ensues.

Dislikes:
NOT ENOUGH EPISODES TO SATISFY ME! MOAR!!!! Also the very last arc of the second season is a bit weaker than the rest in my opinion. Hopefully there are more seasons coming.

Likes:
To many to list, but mostly I laughed so hard, I was worried I’d burst a blood vessel and/or give myself a headache. No seriously. I haven’t laughed like this in a LONG time!

Recommendation:
Watch. Watch it RIGHT NOW!! If you aren’t LOL’ing by the end of the first episode you are dead inside.

Extras:
I will say the first season wasn’t quite as funny on the second viewing, but it’s hard not to just laugh till you can’t breath watching Aqua get ‘traumatized’ over and over, usually because of her own mistakes or bad decisions.

Recommendation:
No. Just NO.
I’m not putting anything else here because this one was just too bad to discuss.
If you want to watch light porn/hentai that covers up all the ‘good bits’ go ahead. I do NOT recommend watching this one at all and I’m not even going to put up the cover image for it.

Description:
Shinichi Kanou is an otaku of all things animé, manga and video games; he’s also basically a hikikomori until he fills out an online test of his knowledge of said animé, manga and all things video games. The online test was to determine if the taker would be a good fit for a very special job, but the job had no definition. After passing the test and actually showing up for an interview, Shinichi’s world takes a turn for the weird. He finds he’s been recruited by the Japanese government to spread ‘otaku culture’ into a fantasy world and Shinichi couldn’t be happier! Said fantasy world has a direct two way magical portal to Japan, and the government wants to open another trading partner for all it’s cultural wares. Shinichi can’t wait to evangelise to all the humans, elves, and dwarves of this new world about his favourite things in the universe. His personal tastes and twisted perceptions are both a blessing and curse as he ends up the main ‘ambassador’ to the Eldant Empire. But is everything as it seems, or is there something underhanded going on?

Dislikes:
Shinichi just doesn’t seem to be the sort of person a harem would build on. I really don’t like worlds with slavery of any sort. Ending was a bit too neat and cliché for me.

Likes:
I LIKE that Shinichi doesn’t like slavery and class distinctions. He’s pretty much useless in a fight from start to finish, but he CAN think like the politician when he needs to. You might think that would be a complaint or dis-like, but a shut-in otaku SHOULDN’T be useful in a fight against trained military, fantasy OR modern defense forces.

Recommendation:
Watch two episodes if you are still interested continue, otherwise it doesn’t get better.

Extras/Spoilers:
Do not read if you do not want a mild spoiler.

You were warned.

I didn’t like the cold turn of the government in this one. It has a VERY “American” feel to it. Everything out of Hollywood is about ‘distrust of authority’ and this show has it as it’s endgame. Apparently the makers of this show don’t trust their own government to be a force for ‘good’ in the world, but just another selfish group of politicians out to grab as much power as they can. It’s not an optimistic outlook. While I can understand that point of view, and hell even have it myself most days, I did find it a bit disappointing.

I also found the situation of Shinichi disliking class distinctions, while simultaneously having a ‘maid’ that makes it very obvious she is ‘beneath’ him, and an Empress making it very obvious she is ‘above’ him, while BOTH obviously like him, an interesting topic this animé could have explored more.

Description:
It’s good to be on Kami’s (God’s) good side.
Just before the series starts, Touya Mochizuki is accidentally killed by Kami(again think ‘God’) and by way of apology Kami reincarnates him in a fantasy world with ‘all his stats maxed’. Hilarity ensues? Well a good bit yes. Touya is a bit too good of a guy for me, but the overall series goes for all the ‘tropes’ of this genre without fail and even makes fun of them AS they are doing it. (An example: It really did crack me up when the trope of ‘marry the princess’ comes up and Touya HIMSELF is saying “BUT YOU DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME!”) This is light-hearted bubblegum with surprisingly strong legs. I’d watch another season with no complaints.

Dislikes:
Main Character is TOO NICE, and if you aren’t in the mood for a harem complete with ALL the tropes just pass.

Likes:
The show makes fun of almost all the tropes it throws as you AS it throws them at you. Its light-hearted fun time waster/palate cleanser.

Recommendation:
Watch 1 episode. You’ll know if you should continue. If you are in the mood for something light, generic, a funny but not overbearingly so, this is a good quick show.

Extras:
The bit with the slimes never gets old.
I’ll add that a LOT of viewers apparently HATE this show for it’s ‘genericness’ and ‘a total konosuba ripoff’.  They aren’t wrong, but if you are in the right mood this one is still fun. At least it was for me when I watched it.
