For unknown reasons the world’s population is full of people with superpowers called ‘quirks’. Over 80% of everyone has a quirk and a new profession has evolved with the evolution of the human race, namely superheroes. They keep the peace and help out during disasters and emergencies. The strongest hero in existence is ‘All Might’ and he is the focus of our main character, Izuku Midoriya. Midoriya is the very picture of what you’d WANT a hero to be, he’s selfless, hard working, and can’t help but throw himself into bad situations to help others out, but unfortunately he is completely quirkless. Midoriya has had a pretty hard time going through school without a superpower of his own. Picked on constantly for his “infirmity” he none-the-less helps out where he can. Then one day he gets to meet his hero All Might and his life changes as the super hero has a secret. He can pass on his power to another person and he is LOOKIING for a successor. My Hero Academia follows the struggles of Midoriya as he tries to come to grips with this new found power that will literally destroy his body if he doesn’t learn how to use it quickly. The fastest way to learn is to join UA High where they train the next generation of superheroes, but can he even pass the entrance exam?

I do not understand the aims of the villains yet. I hope it doesn’t drag on for years and years like other popular shounen shows have.

This is one of the best examples of the shounen genre I’ve seen. I like it a LOT more than Naruto or Bleach and I liked those shows a good bit early on in their runs. This series will need a third season and more to get anywhere NEAR enough episodes to show us all of Midoriya’s (and his friends too!) story and I hope to see it all.

WATCH! It’s really fun.

Who would of thought that a tournament which is so typical it’s cringworthy would still be so much FUN in season 2!

Quick Anime Reviews: Tsuredure Children, AHO-GIRL, My Hero Academia

Playing more WoW than watching Anime. Crunchyroll is happy with me I guess.

Tsuredure Children: 4/10 [EP:12]
Slice of life for a half dozen different ‘couples/pre couples’. Its cute and I actually suggest you watch it, but its just quick fun. Nothing lasting here. I’m sure most viewers will have at least one couple they can identify with.

AHO-GIRL: 3/10 [EP:12]
I’m not big of ‘girl hits boy’ comedy. I like ‘boy hits girl’ comedy even less. Still the female lead is REALLY dumb and annoying. Don’t recommend. Catchy Intro song though.

My Hero Academia: 6/10 [13/26 Season 1 Review]
I really liked it, even though it’s about as typical a shonen Hero Journey+High School show as you’ll find. This was one of the big hits when it came out, but I simply waited till I was in the mood for a shonen before getting around to it. The characters are interesting and I was surprised that they actually took their time telling the story.  Highly recommend this one, even if I don’t push it to a 7. I actually found myself actively wanting to binge this show and that’s unusual because lately I’ve gotten bored with series around the mid to last third and haven’t even finished them.

Currently on hold after about 5-8 shows: World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman, Twin Star Exorcists, Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon, The Asterisk War, Hundred, Beyond the Boundary, The Testament of Sister New Devil, Denpa Kyoushi, Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, plus a few more. As you can see, my interest wanes quickly these days.
